I’ve just released a new episode of The Hutt Seat, breaking down this year’s Annual Plan for Lower Hutt. It’s a quick, five-minute listen that covers the key projects, challenges, and decisions shaping the year ahead—plus how your rates are being spent.

Quick Snapshot:

This is year two of our 10-Year Plan—so we’re continuing the mahi we committed to last year. The proposed rates revenue increase is 12.8% (after growth), slightly lower than originally forecast. That works out to an average increase of $9.06 per week per household. Over half of this increase is going towards upgrading our water infrastructure.

We’re also making changes in response to reduced government transport funding, shifting population needs, and economic pressure. It’s all about delivering smarter, not just spending more.
